This year’s Welcome Meeting 2024 is now all wrapped up. Over the course of two days newcomers to the WISE community got to learn more about WISE which is the largest research initiative ever in material science.
The participants also got to listen to presentations given by representatives from industry and academia and were given an opportunity to network with other researchers. There was also a poster session that gave ample opportunities for further networking and discussions.
We got to talk to some of you that expressed your thoughts about Welcome Meeting 2024.
-I think that Welcome Meeting provides a very good collaborative network between experimental researchers and simulation researchers to make long term collaborative opportunities for the future, says Vahid Fadaei Naeini, Luleå University of Technology.
-It’s a really good opportunity to be part of WISE. I look forward to the exciting courses that are offered and also to the study trips, says Surabhi S Raj, PhD student at Uppsala University.

Magnus Berggren, Director of WISE, will assume the role as the Executive Director of Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation from 1 January 2027. As a result, he will step down as Program Director of the WISE program and remain at Linköping University on a part-time basis.
