Turn Sustainable Materials Research into Impact: KAW Proof of Concept Grants 2026 Now Open

The call for the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation’s (KAW) Proof of Concept Grants in Materials Science for Sustainability 2026 is now open.

The grants offer researchers the opportunity to take promising early-stage research closer to real-world application. Funding of SEK 1–4 million is available for projects lasting up to two years, supporting the development and validation of methods, products or processes with clear commercial and societal potential.

The call is open to researchers financed through KAW and is particularly relevant for those looking to explore how research results in materials science can contribute to a more sustainable future.

The application deadline is October 15, 2026, at 13:00 CET.

The call text and application link are available here.

Reminder: Information Webinar on September 7

Interested researchers are also invited to an online information webinar on September 7, 2026, from 16:00 to 17:00 CET.

The webinar will introduce the Proof of Concept Grants and provide information about the upcoming call, with a particular focus on opportunities to commercialise results from materials science research for sustainability.
