Sustainability criteria in focus as AP3 call opens

The call will remain open until 8 February, after which submitted proposals will be evaluated by international scientific and sustainability reviewers. The evaluation will include specific sustainability criteria and grading scales, covering sustainability reflection, competence, the research plan for sustainability, and the integration of sustainability with materials research.

WISE’s third Academic Project Call for research projects will fund the employment of PhD students and postdoctors to advance material science for sustainability. The call focuses on materials research and technologies that use fewer resources, reduce environmental impact, enable efficient recycling, and support low-impact energy solutions while maintaining high performance.

How will the proposals be evaluated?

The evaluation will consider both the scientific quality of the proposed projects and the significance of their sustainability aspects. For sustainability, reviewers will assess the extent to which sustainability is meaningfully integrated into the proposed research, using defined assessment criteria and grading scales. The evaluation criteria for sustainability in AP3 include; Sustainability Reflection, Sustainability Competence, Research Plan for Sustainability, Integration of Sustainability and Materials Research.
