WISE affiliated Professor at Stockholm University Wins Prestigious Staudinger-Durrer Prize

Lennart Bergström, WISE-affiliated Professor of Materials Chemistry at Stockholm University, has been awarded the 2025 Staudinger-Durrer Prize by ETH Zurich.

The prize honors leading researchers in materials science and engineering.

Bergström is recognized for his pioneering work in colloid chemistry, including nanoparticle synthesis, non-classical crystallization, and mesocrystal development. His research has advanced understanding of colloidal systems and led to innovations in sustainable materials, such as insulation foams from waste and textile fiber recycling.

A prominent figure in sustainable science, Bergström also leads the Master’s program in Sustainable Chemistry at Stockholm University. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), part of the WISE advisory group, and deputy director of the MISTRA SafeChem program.
