Turning Waste into Treasure: Smarter Recycling for a Sustainable Materials Future
What if yesterday’s waste could power tomorrow’s technologies?

3 Aug 2026
On 24 – 25 August, the WISE Community will welcome its newest members to the WISE Welcome Meeting 2026 at Vildmarkshotellet in Kolmården.
The annual event marks the beginning of the WISE journey for new PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, offering two inspiring days of networking, learning, and new collaborations.
The Welcome Meeting introduces participants to the WISE programme, its vision, research areas, and the many opportunities available through the WISE Research School, including courses, summer schools, and study trips. The programme also features presentations from WISE researchers, inspiring talks from representatives of industry and the WISE Research Arenas (WIRAs), and interactive poster sessions where participants present their planned research projects and connect with colleagues from across the WISE network.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of Vildmarkshotellet, next to Kolmården Wildlife Park, the meeting combines a stimulating scientific programme with opportunities to build lasting connections in a relaxed environment. A social activity in the wildlife park will give participants the chance to continue conversations and strengthen their networks in an informal setting.
We look forward to welcoming the newest members of the WISE Community for what promises to be an inspiring start to their WISE journey.
