Magnus Berggren Appointed Executive Director of Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation

Magnus Berggren, Director of WISE, will assume the role as the Executive Director of Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation from 1 January 2027. As a result, he will step down as Program Director of the WISE program and remain at Linköping University on a part-time basis.

–I am grateful for the trust placed in me. The Wallenberg Foundations’ long-term support is vital to Sweden’s strength as a research nation and is built on mutual trust between researchers and the Foundations. I look forward to fostering this trust and promoting scientific excellence through free basic research, says Magnus Berggren.

Next steps in leadership transition

A new WISE Program Director is being appointed in consultation with Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and will be installed on 1 January 2027.

Magnus Berggren will remain in the role as Program Director of WISE until 31 December 2026.
