The WISE Networking Day, a dynamic event bridging academia and industry in the field of material science for sustainability, has just concluded with a buzz of excitement and energy.
With approximately 250 participants, the event saw engaging presentations from industry giants such as IKEA, Alfa Laval, Scania, Sandvik, and Hitachi Energy.
Postdocs from WISE shared cutting-edge research through posters, fostering vibrant discussions across disciplines. Attendees reflected on the collaborative potential between academia and industry to address the pressing challenges of sustainability.
Jiayao Duan, a postdoc at Stockholm University, expressed the value of the event, saying, “This is a tremendous opportunity to share and to learn. I feel that I can gain new perspectives to continue my work.”
Cherryleen Garcia-Lindgren, R&D Manager at IPCO Sweden AB, highlighted the power of collaboration, stating, “The Networking Day was inspiring. It brought together PhD students, postdocs, and industry leaders, encouraging us to think about solutions to challenges through cooperation rather than working in silos.”

-While XPS is straightforward to use for metals, it poses profound challenges for insulators, which can lead to inaccurate spectra interpretation. The exponential growth in XPS publications has also increased the risk of dissemination of potentially erroneous results.
