From Lab to Production Line: WISE Visits Jönköping

The May WISE Study Trip brought doctoral students and postdocs to Jönköping.

This May, WISE Study Trip brought doctoral students and postdocs to Jönköping for two days of engagement with leading academic environments, cutting-edge industrial settings, and regional innovation hubs, while strengthening connections within the WISE Research School community.

The programme started at Science Park and continued at Jönköping University (JTH/MOT), where participants were introduced to research in simulation, polymer technology, aluminium, and alloy design. A visit to JU Cast included a guided tour and a live demonstration of casting processes, offering a clear example of how research is translated into practice in an industrially relevant context.

The second day included a visit to Husqvarna AB, where participants took part in a presentation and factory tour. The visit offered insight into modern chainsaw production, with a focus on automation, robotics, quality control, and working environment.

The study trip highlighted the value of connecting research with real-world applications while creating space for dialogue and exchange across disciplines and institutions. WISE Study Trips continue to give young researchers new perspectives, stronger networks, and direct contact with key actors in academia and industry.
