Call text available: KAW Proof of Concept Grants in Materials Science for Sustainability

The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has published the call text for the 2026 Proof of Concept Grants in Materials Science for Sustainability is now available. The call opens September 1, 2026, and closes October 15, 2026, at 13:00.

These grants offer researchers a unique opportunity to transform early-stage discoveries into real-world solutions. By bridging the gap between academic research and innovation in materials science for sustainability, the program supports the development of validated methods, products, or processes with strong commercial and societal potential.

Each project may receive 1–4 million SEK in funding over a period of up to two years, enabling researchers to take their ideas to the next level.

As part of the Wallenberg Launch Pad (WALP) initiative, the Proof of Concept Grants are designed to accelerate impactful innovations that can contribute to a more sustainable future.
