Erica Zeglio, Assistant Professor & Dr. Biswanath Das, both from Stockholm University, to speak at WISE Dialogue 2026
We are happy to introduce Erica Zeglio, Assistant Professor and WISE Fellow & Dr. Biswanath Das, two of our speakers at the WISE Dialogue conference, March 17-18.
In their WISE Dialogue session, Asst. Professor Zeglio and Dr. Das will explore next-generation electrode materials and a newly envisioned electrolysis cell designed to directly capture carbon dioxide from flue gas and convert it into e-methanol. Their talk highlights a powerful idea: transforming unavoidable emissions into valuable resources.
By using electrodes made solely from non‑critical elements and sourcing hydrogen from water, their process offers a uniquely sustainable, low‑risk pathway for carbon capture and green fuel production. This is not just cleaner technology—it’s a vision for turning industrial waste into climate‑positive opportunity.
What breakthrough in sustainable materials inspires you the most today?
True effectiveness does not always require expensive or critical elements. Instead, thoughtful material design, tailoring structural and electronic features to the specific application, can deliver high performance in a more sustainable way.
What do you hope participants will take away from your talk?
Carbon dioxide is not only a hazardous waste and a greenhouse gas. It can be reintegrated into the circular economy effectively, where waste carbon dioxide is transformed into value-added fuels and C1 feedstock chemicals.
