Peter Dahlén, Technical Director at Holmen Board and Paper speaks at WISE Dialogue 2026

We are pleased to introduce Peter Dahlén as one of our speakers at the WISE Dialogue conference on March 17–18.

Peter plays a key role in driving both sustainability initiatives and IT development at Holmen Board and Paper.

In his talk, Peter will present an innovative containerboard product that delivers significantly more material per amount of wood input compared to traditional alternatives. This product can already be produced efficiently, at scale, and entirely without fossil energy or biogenic CO₂ emissions.

Why is this topic important for Holmen Board and Paper and for the industry as a whole?

As biomass becomes an increasingly scarce resource, developing resource‑efficient products is essential for the entire industry. Customers are also looking for solutions that help reduce their overall carbon footprint.

For Holmen, this means focusing on efficient fibre utilisation, fossil‑free production, and providing reliable carbon footprint data that enables informed, low‑carbon decisions across packaging and logistics.

What breakthrough in sustainable materials inspires you the most today?

The growing use of alternative and more diverse fibre sources in paper production is a key step toward long‑term material efficiency. Additionally, the first full‑scale carbon capture and storage plant at a cement facility in Norway stands out as a significant and encouraging milestone.

What do you hope participants will take away from your talk?

That more sustainable transport and shipping materials are already available today—at scale. These are practical, ready‑to‑use solutions that can immediately help reduce climate impact, not far‑off concepts waiting for the future.
