The aim of the joint call is to initiate the collaboration between WASP and WISE in the areas of AI, autonomous systems, and software and material science for sustainability. Up to 30 granted projects will be conducted during 2024.
– We are very excited that WISE and WASP have seen an opportunity for cross-disciplinary activities and will mutually identify interfaces for collaborations and complementary activities, says Magnus Berggren, Director of WISE and Anders Ynnerman, Director of WASP.
About WISE
The Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE) is the largest ever investment in materials science in Sweden and includes major investments at the leading universities in Sweden over the course of at least 10 years. The aim is to create the conditions for a sustainable society by researching the next generation of ecofriendly materials and manufacturing processes.
Through collaborations with industry and society, WISE will promote and activate a transition towards a sustainable society and at the same time advance the scientific frontier in materials science, which strongly establishes Sweden as a leading nation in the field.
About WASP
The Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) is Sweden’s largest ever individual research program, a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic research, education, and faculty recruitment. The program addresses research on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems acting in collaboration with humans, adapting to their environment through sensors, information, and knowledge, and forming intelligent systems-of-systems. The vision of WASP is excellent research and competence in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and software for the benefit of Swedish society and industry.
