The Call for WACQT–WISE Collaboration Projects 2026 is now open

This call aims to support joint research projects between researchers within WACQT and WISE in the areas of quantum technology for materials science or materials science for quantum technology, with a required focus on sustainability.

Funded projects must be based on a joint research plan led by one Principal Investigator (PI) from WACQT and one PI from a WISE partner university.

Who can apply?

The call is open to academic researchers at WACQT’s and WISE’s partner universities and affiliated groups of excellence. One main PI from WACQT and one main PI from WISE are required in each application. Applicants may only be main applicant in one proposal but can participate as co-applicants in others.

The application deadline is 27 August 2026 at 14:00.

Turning waste into water: a regenerable and compostable membrane for cleaning oily water

An international team of researchers has developed a high-performance, biodegradable membrane made from jute agricultural waste to filter oily water. The material is produced using a simple and scalable process and it can be removed using ultrasound and easily re-casted, restoring its performance again and again. Even after repeated use, the membrane maintains over 99% separation efficiency.
