WISE is proud to announce the first Summer School on Additive Manufacturing supported by the WISE Graduate School. The school is organized by the WISE Additive Research and Technology Platform, involving all three nodes – Uppsala University, Chalmers University of Technology, and Linköping University – and it is one of the two Summer School applications granted by the Graduate School in 2024.
Additive manufacturing (AM) is a manufacturing technology where a three-dimensional object is built based on 3D model data, usually layer upon layer, as opposed to subtractive manufacturing and formative manufacturing methodologies. The aim of the school is to establish a basic understanding regarding AM, both as a method for novel material development and as an industrial technology for prototyping and manufacturing of advanced components across diverse sectors. The course covers an overview of seven additive manufacturing technology groups as well as a general overview of the AM manufacturing chain.
The summer school will be conducted across three sessions, hosted by each of the participating members of the WISE Additive Research and technology (RTP):
June 11-12,Printed Electronics. Linköping University (room K4 Kåkenhus at Campus Norrköping)
June 18-19, Polymer printing and AM of ceramics. Uppsala University (house 10 at the Ångström laboratory) and
June 25-26, Metal AM Technologies. Chalmers (Virtual Development Laboratory, Campus Johanneberg)
Anticipating an exciting exchange of knowledge and ideas, the event aims to accommodate a total of 100 participants, including 50 members of the WISE Graduate School (GS), with an additional 50 slots open to PhD students, young researchers, and industrial representatives outside WISE. While participants from the latter group will be charged a nominal fee, the participation of WISE GS members is free of charge.
-This Summer School on Additive Manufacturing promises to be a dynamic forum for learning, collaboration, and networking, says Professor Eduard Hryha, Chalmers University of Technology, Competence Centre for Metal Additive Manufacturing -Metal (CAM2) and one of the organizers of the Summer School.
The responsible organizers of the Summer School on Additive Manufacturing are:
Eduard Hryha, Chalmers University of Technology, Competence Centre for Metal Additive Manufacturing – Metal (CAM2), host of the Summer School, metal AM (hryha@chalmers.se)
Cecilia Persson, Uppsala University, Competence Centre in Additive Manufacturing for the Life Sciences – AM4Life, co-organizer, AM for life sciences (cecilia.persson@angstrom.uu.se)
Prof. Simone Fabiano, Linköping University, Myfab@LiU, co-organizer, printing of electronics (simone.fabiano@liu.se)
WISE participants will receive an invitation to register via email. Participants outside WISE are kindly asked to contact the organizers of the Summer School to register.
