Participants explored cutting-edge research and innovation in neutron science, metal powder technology, and recycling solutions through visits to ESS, Höganäs, and Stena Recycling.

-From the start, I knew I wanted to attend, said Daniel Haster Olsson, PhD student at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The visit to Höganäs was incredibly well-planned, from the introductory company presentation to informal discussions on sustainability during “fika” with a stunning rooftop view of the ocean. Daniel particularly appreciated seeing the production facilities, customer development center, and state-of-the-art laboratories.

At Stena Recycling, the group was equally impressed by the advanced efforts in e-waste and EV battery recycling.

-It was like visiting a mining site—above ground, cleaner, and modern, with the ore being worn-out electronic products, Daniel explained. He described the visit as highly structured, informative, and engaging.

The study trip highlighted how Swedish research and industry are leading the way in sustainable solutions and groundbreaking technologies—an inspiring experience for all participants.
