WISE Dialogue 2025: A Resounding Success

A successful WISE Dialogue 2025 just wrapped up, bringing together approximately 300 participants from diverse sectors, including leading industry professionals, academic experts, WISE PhD students and Postdocs, as well as representatives from the public sector.

Over two action-packed days, attendees experienced cutting-edge WISE research presentations and thought-provoking talks on sustainability delivered by world-renowned experts. The event was an incredible platform to inspire, connect, and empower the WISE community.

Among the distinguished speakers, Dr. Masato Sagawa, the brilliant inventor of the world’s strongest permanent magnet, shared his groundbreaking insights and reflected on his amazing career with the audience. Tiziana Vanorio (Associate Professor at the school of Sustainability at Stanford University), Jan-Erik Sundgren (member of the WISE advisory committee) and Mats Torring (Stena Metall Group) gave inspirational and excellent talks on concrete, European competitiveness, and recycling, respectively.

We’ve received important and overall positive feedback from many of you, which signifies that we all had a great moment of learning and discussions on materials science for sustainability. Your thoughtful input will play a key role as we start planning the next event, WISE Dialogue 2026.

-The Dialogue has been a great opportunity to gather information, and new ideas. I did a lot of networking, and I got inspired by great speakers as Prof. Masato Sagawa, says Saira Ajmal, postdoc at Uppsala University.

– I met a lot of other PhD students working on sustainable issues. It was very good to see how companies interact and collaborate with academia, which helps us a lot for our future, says Brian Rydgren, PhD student at Uppsala University.

Thank you all for attending and your outstanding contributions which made WISE Dialogue 2025 a true success!

We look forward to seeing you at the next WISE Dialogue!
