Jan-Eric Sundgren, member of the WISE advisory committee, to speak at WISE Dialogue

-Advanced materials are vital for reducing emissions, promoting circularity, and replacing harmful materials.

What is your talk about at Dialogue 2025
The talk will exemplify the role of advanced materials in securing the competitiveness of European industry and their role for the green transition. In the global turmoil we are facing today it is of outmost importance that Europe regains its place in the world, and I will reflect on how the WISE program fits in to the current European pathway forward, i.e., into the European competitiveness compass.

What role do you believe new materials and technologies will play in addressing global challenges like climate change and resource depletion?
Materials are crucial to combat some of the major challenges we see today not only to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions but also to secure real circularity, biodegradability, substitution of toxic- and of scarce-materials and to regenerate nature. Research and innovation, responsible industrial competitiveness and strong political commitments are keys to achieving this.
