On December 4, 2025, from 15:00 to 16:00, Uppsala University will host a WISE Guest Professor Lecture featuring Professor Julie Beth Zimmerman and Dr. Sandrine Lyonnard, both WISE Guest Professors at the university.
Dr. Sandrine Lyonnard will share her cutting-edge research in a talk titled “Operando battery characterization at the synchrotron: pushing the frontiers of spatiotemporal analysis.”
Her lecture will explore how advanced synchrotron techniques open new possibilities for understanding battery materials in action. With their powerful X-ray capabilities and exceptional spatial and temporal resolution, these tools allow researchers to visualize complex chemical and structural changes as batteries charge and discharge. By combining several techniques in multimodal workflows, Dr. Lyonnard will demonstrate how scientists can gain a holistic view of reactions and degradation processes in Li- and Na-ion systems — insights that are helping to shape the future of energy storage.
