Uppsala University to Host Webinar on Sustainability in Additive Manufacturing

Uppsala University’s WISE Symposium series will spotlight cutting-edge sustainability research on November 26, 2025, with a webinar dedicated to the environmental aspects of additive manufacturing.

The featured speaker is Prof. Iain Todd, Director of the Materials Made Smarter Research Centre in the UK and a leading expert in advanced manufacturing technologies.

Prof. Todd will deliver a talk titled “Metal Additive Manufacturing and Powder Recovery, Reuse & Recycling”, offering a deep dive into how innovative powder-handling strategies can reduce waste and improve the sustainability profile of metal 3D-printing processes. With a PhD in Solidification from the University of Sheffield and decades of experience across major European research institutions, Prof. Todd has been instrumental in advancing metal additive manufacturing since 2003. His achievements were recognised in 2023 when he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The webinar will take place digitally from 09:30 to 10:30, and participants are invited to join and contribute to the discussion on shaping a more sustainable manufacturing future.
