Successful Inauguration of the WISE Additive Node at Linköping University
The inauguration of the WISE Additive node at Linköping University (LiU) took place this week, marking an important milestone in the development of Sweden’s research infrastructure for additive manufacturing and soft electronics for sustainability.
The new node is based at the Täppan Cleanroom on Campus Norrköping, which will now serve as the central hub for additive manufacturing research and development at LiU. The facility focuses on printing advanced electronic materials and devices, creating unique opportunities to develop, pattern, and characterize the next generation of soft functional materials and electronic systems.
The inauguration event brought together researchers, partners, and industry representatives, celebrating the launch of this open research infrastructure under the Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE). Guests had the opportunity to explore the facilities, learn about the cutting-edge technologies available, and discuss future collaborations.
“The establishment of the WISE Additive node at LiU is a great example of how WISE brings together expertise and infrastructure to accelerate sustainable materials research,” said Magnus Berggren, Director of WISE. “This facility will enable groundbreaking developments in printed and flexible electronics that can contribute to a more sustainable and technology-driven society.”
“We are thrilled to see the strong interest and engagement from the research community and industry at today’s inauguration,” added Simone Fabiano, responsible for the WISE Additive LiU node. “With the Täppan Cleanroom as our base, we now have a unique environment to advance additive manufacturing of electronic materials and devices, and to foster new collaborations across disciplines.”
The successful inauguration highlights LiU’s growing role as a leader in additive manufacturing and soft electronics, reinforcing Sweden’s position at the forefront of materials science for sustainability.
