The WISE graduate school aims to provide important skills needed to achieve excellence in the interdisciplinary area of materials science for sustainability. The graduate school is now opening two separate calls, one for WISE Summer School 2024 and one for course development. Both calls are financed by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
The aim of the call for WISE Summer School 2024 is to support the organization of a one-week summer school. The summer school must be able to accommodate a minimum of 50 WISE graduate school members (PhD students/postdocs).
The aim of the course development call is to make high-quality PhD topical courses with substantial sustainability content easily available for all PhD students within WISE.
About WISE
The Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability (WISE) is the largest ever investment in materials science in Sweden and includes major investments at the leading universities in Sweden over the course of at least 10 years. The aim is to create the conditions for a sustainable society by researching the next generation of ecofriendly materials and manufacturing processes.
Through collaborations with industry and society, WISE will promote and activate a transition towards a sustainable society and at the same time advance the scientific frontier in materials science, which strongly establishes Sweden as a leading nation in the field.
The graduate school within WISE educates young researchers and plays an important role in realizing these aims. The WISE graduate school will arrange at least one summer school per year. A WISE summer school focusses on some aspect or aspects of materials and sustainability and includes substantial interaction between academia and industry.
