Meet the people at WISE: Petronella Norberg, Program Coordinator

Petronella Norberg has been the Program Coordinator of WISE since the establishment of WISE in 2022.

Petronella is an experienced researcher and manager. She has a background in experimental physics both in ultra-high vacuum (catalysis) and at ambient conditions (printed and flexible electronics). She did her PhD at Linköping University and after that she worked for 20 years at the research institute Acreo (now a part of RISE), mostly with industry projects but also with projects funded by EU or Swedish funding agencies.

You are the Program Coordinator at WISE. What does the role imply?
The WISE program office is responsible for administration, economy, events and similar. We are located in Norrköping but some of our co-workers are based at other WISE universities. As program coordinator I am head of the Program Office

What did you do before WISE?
Before I became the program coordinator for WISE, I was engaged in the Program Office for WASP (Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program).

What would you say is the best versus the most challenging part of your job?
The funniest part of my job is to meet with all talented and creative people, to get an overview of ongoing research in the field, and to learn more about the sustainability aspects of materials research and use. The most challenging part of my job is to meet the needs for support and information from such an incredibly fast-growing research program, which includes many different organizations. Luckily, I work with a real dream team at the WISE Program Office!
