WISE researcher Maryna Pankratova, based at Uppsala University is organizing an engaging seminar series titled “Machine Learning meets Materials Science”. This initiative is connected to the WISE-WASP call, and aims to foster collaboration between researchers and scientists in materials science and machine learning. Each seminar within the series will feature dual perspectives, with speakers representing both fields.
–We are very excited to start the seminar series to bring together researchers from these two fields. Our goal is to encourage new collaborations and facilitate interactions for multidisciplinary and sustainable research, explains Maryna, WISE researcher at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Materials Theory at Uppsala University.
The inaugural session of the series is scheduled for Thursday, April 11th, at 10:00 AM via Zoom. The featured speakers are Assistant Professor Stephanie Lowry from Örebro University and Dr. Alena Vishina from Uppsala University. Assist. Prof. Lowry will deliver an introductory presentation on machine learning titled “Explainability in machine learning: what is it and what is it useful for?” Meanwhile, Dr. Vishina will delve into high performance magnets in her talk, “Data-mining search for high-performance permanent magnets”.
–We would like to invite researchers from the WISE and WASP communities to propose topics and speakers to this series, expresses Maryna.
