Research question

Li-CO2 batteries carry great potential in both CO2 utilization and future rechargeable batteries of high energy density. The present major concern arises from the sluggish CO2 reduction reaction and the evolution reaction in cathode during discharge and charge processes, respectively; it causes inferior discharge capacity, large overpotential, low energy efficiency and poor cycle stability. Addressing such research questions demands innovative approaches in cathode construction for better CO2 conversion.

Sustainability aspects

In terms of sustainability aspects, the project targets primarily the United Nations sustainable development goal (SDG) 7 “Green materials for efficient technology to convert energy”, and secondarily SDG 13 “Climate action” and SDG 8 “decent work and economic growth”.
