Research question

This project aims to build an enhanced chemical understanding of how defect engineering can be used to enhance and tune the adsorption properties of plant-based MOFs for the capture of water contaminants of emerging concern. The main focus of the project is to develop new materials with selective properties toward the adsorption of contaminants from our waters by obtaining an enhanced fundamental understanding of their functionality.

Sustainability aspects

The development of plant-based MOF adsorbents as sustainable adsorbent materials offers a multifaceted approach to addressing key environmental challenges. Its production and usage align with several SDGs, highlighting its role as a transformative solution in the area of sustainable water treatment as well as more general environmental sustainability initiatives.
