Research question

How to implement this novel concept into an electrochemical flow reactor? How to break down metal waste into particles in suspension that can flow through the electrochemical reactor? What is the mechanism of metal particles oxidation in the flow compartment of the reactor

Sustainability aspects

The global production of metals and alloys is energy intensive and responsible for 40% of industrial greenhouse gas emissions and 10% of global energy consumption. Metals store significant energy, yet end-of-life disposal poses an energy waste challenge. Instead of letting metal corrosion consume that internal energy, this project introduces an innovative approach, harnessing energy from metal waste in the form of hydrogen and electricity. We propose a sustainable solution at the intersection of metal recycling and the hydrogen economy.
