Atomistic understanding of new catalytic materials in the production of Sustainable Aviation Biofuel
Academic project
PhD
Open
Research question
How does the catalytic material interact with the reactants and can we increase the efficiency of the catalyst by incorporating noble metals as promotors? How are different noble metals incorporated into the structure of the catalysts? Can we follow the dynamics of the incorporated promotors by the use of X-ray spectroscopy?
Sustainability aspects
At this critical juncture, the development of next-generation catalysts is vital for producing sustainable aviation biofuels. As approximately 85% of the world’s energy is derived from fossil fuels, achieving a complete transition to renewable fuel relies on the refinement of more efficient catalysts. Employing operando characterization at an atomistic level in catalysts will provide crucial insights, accelerating the transition toward sustainable aviation fuel.
