WISE Summer School 2026 – NMR Spectroscopy – Cancelled!

This summer school has unfortunately been cancelled due to a low number of participants.

Laptop, school and books on table. Online school, e-learning concept

The WISE Summer School 2026 will offer an exciting opportunity to gain an introduction to the field of NMR. No previous knowledge is required, meaning that everyone is welcome to join the summer school and learn more about this important research infrastructure. Designed for students and early-career researchers, the program will bring together leading experts, interactive lectures, and practical sessions in a stimulating environment.

When: 7–12 June
Location: Marholmen Island, Stockholm Archipelago

New to NMR? No Problem.
PhD students and postdocs in materials chemistry/physics/science/engineering: have you ever wondered if Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) could be the “missing piece” in your research? Do you have questions that are difficult to come by using your current repertoire of methods?

Most materials research rely on microscopy or diffraction information, but solid-state NMR offers an unsurpassed looking glass sensitive to structure and dynamics at the atomic level. It is particularly suitable for studying “messy” materials that other methods cannot handle easily, such as amorphous solids, polymers, and complex interfaces.

Why Join This Summer School?

  • Direct Access. Work closely with and learn from expert faculty from KTH and Stockholm University in a secluded, collaborative environment.
  • Zero to Insight. We have designed this school specifically also for those with little to no prior exposure to NMR. Extensive informal sessions with experts provides a level-adjusted immersion focused not on methodological aspects but on utility and information content.
  • Sustainability Focus. Learn how NMR can be used to accelerate the development of batteries, renewable biopolymers, and carbon capture materials, etc.
  • Hands-On Learning. Beyond lectures, you will participate in small-group tutorials and see a portable NMR spectrometer in action.

The Experience
It is not all lab talk and science. Here you can build your professional network while experiencing the best of the Swedish archipelago during early summer!

Registration – Open (Deadline: 31st of March 2026)
You will receive a personal invitation to the event directly in your email inbox.
Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and a waiting list will be available once all seats are filled. Please ensure you have obtained approval from your PI before registering, as the registration is binding.
