Confined bio-based renewable materials for sustainable aqueous rechargeable batteries (CLEANBATT)
Academic project
PhD
Open
Research question
The current lithium-ion batteries are made from electrode materials (e.g., Co based toxic materials) with environmental concerns and flammable electrolytes. To make the battery more sustainable, safer and cheaper, the present project will develop biomaterial based sustainable electrode materials for aqueous rechargeable batteries.
Sustainability aspects
The biomaterial based sustainable materials will be discovered and prepared to replace toxic electrode materials and the water will be used as solvent to replace the flammable organic electrolyte, with the goal to develop truly green batteries.
