Guest Professor program
The guest professor (GP) program is part of the recruitment and outreach activities of WISE and targets to establish research connections internationally. The purpose can be both to strengthen excellent research environments and to introduce new contacts and research areas into the Swedish research landscape. Through the GP program, WISE will collaborate with internationally competitive research environments, enabling crucial networking.
WISE is proud to invite PIs from the WISE universities and partner universities to propose Guest Professors to become members of the WISE Community. The Guest Professor will be recruited to the participating university, with funding provided from WISE, and through an evaluation and decision by WISE. A guest professorship is intended to be up to 20% of full year employment and will last for up to 5 years. WISE welcomes candidates from academia, industry, and society. A WISE Guest Professor will be part of the WISE network and may interact with researchers in Sweden in the wider scope of materials research for sustainability.
Expectations
The expectations and evaluation criteria are based on the ambition to recruiting excellent researchers with an internationally competitive scientific track record in research fields relevant to WISE. A WISE Guest Professor is expected to strengthen the research environment and to introduce new research areas to Swedish academia, as well as creating new connections to international research and/or between academia and Swedish industry. Scientists at the Professor or Associate Professor level are qualified for a WISE Guest Professor appointment. A limited number of positions for Guest Professors from industry are also possible.
Eligibility
The following universities are eligible as host universities for Guest Professors: Chalmers University of Technology, Karlstad University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, Luleå University of Technology, Lund University, Stockholm University, Umeå University, and Uppsala University. The application is submitted by the host university. Recruitments are made continuously, so applications can be submitted at any time.
